Lee Qing is an undergraduate student at Boston University, majoring in Music Composition and Theory. Her musical journey began in Singapore, when she was introduced to composition via the Music Elective Programme (MEP) at age 15. Ever since then, she has pursued composition vigorously. Currently, she studies under Professor Catherine Nez at BU, and her work primarily draws on techniques used by Medieval and Renaissance repertoires. Her current focus is on understanding the theory that served as the foundation for the music of these eras, and applying these methods and ways of thinking to her own compositions. Through these processes, she hopes to bring a fresh perspective on what contemporary music can stand to gain from studying older forms of theory.
She has also performed as a percussionist for Time’s Arrow in BU, and also played percussion for student projects within BU. She has also performed her own works on piano. As of Spring 2023, she has also participated in BU's Baroque Ensemble as a harpsichord player.
